Couples Therapy

Your partner is a mirror.
Are you wondering why you and your partner get stuck on the same issue repeatedly? Or do your discussions escalate to where no one feels heard and you both are resentful? Are you looking outside of your relationship for support, instead inside? The greatest work we can do on ourselves in life is to grow through the mirror our partner shows us.

Listen and grow empathy.
Investing time into couples therapy can ensure your relationship is not only more fulfilling but long-lasting too. As you work with me we will create a safe place to share difficult emotions, past experiences, and charged subjects. I will want to hear how each partner is feeling every step of the way and how they can better feel seen and heard by their partner.

Fulfillment is possible.
It’s easy to blame others for our problems, to feel that only if another person would change, then things would be better. The truth is relationships take work. It takes work to understand another person’s perspective and life experience. No one will be an exact replica of us, which is why relationships offer so many opportunities for growth.
Let’s grow together.
Our work will begin with a joint couples session to address roadblocks and shared goals. Then I will meet with each partner individually so that I can fully understand how each person approaches their relationship. After those first three sessions, I will meet with you as a couple again in the fourth session to begin our work together.
Therapy encourages intimacy.
Sometimes, therapy sessions will feel hard and you may leave feeling upset with your partner. I’m here to remind you that emotions are better shared and heard than kept inside. That ‘releasing’ part of the process is necessary. It’s an interesting journey too, once emotions are let out, they lose power. More often than not, couples have epiphanies in session and begin to feel closer to their partner by making small changes. The process is quite fun and as your therapist, watching the changes is inspiring for me as well.
